Kansai Gaidai University has openings for assistant professors in IES, starting in April 2021. The university is interested in professional IES faculty who will make a serious commitment to its program.
Teach 15 hours per week per semester. Instructors are also expected to hold at least three office hours per week, attend meetings, participate in interviews, hold demonstration classes, develop and share instructional materials, participate in peer observation and evaluation, and other duties as assigned.
Benefits provided include furnished housing; reimbursement for airfare from the country of residence to Japan for the teacher (not for accompanying family members) upon arrival at Kansai Gaidai; return flight for the teacher on completion of 3 full years; payment of half of the health and pension insurance (mandated by the university) premiums.
Please note that our campus, including the faculty housing, is smoke-free. You will be prohibited from smoking cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, etc, on campus premises and inside the provided housing as well.
Successful applicants are required to teach as specified in the Kansai Gaidai curriculum and course syllabi, using the specified textbooks. Successful candidates should expect to arrive in Osaka the last week of March in 2021.

Master’s degree in TESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or Education with a TESL emphasis.
Minimum of 3 years teaching English to speakers of other languages, at least 2 of which must be in a country other than the candidate’s nationality. Additional experience preferred.
High level of English proficiency speakers preferred. Speakers with TOEFL iBT scores of 120 (30 for each section: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening) will be considered.
TERM OF CONTRACT:
3 years, or less in some situations. Non-renewable in either case.
