The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for appointment to a 9-month tenure track position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor in Bilingual Education beginning Fall 2020. Successful candidates will 1) maintain a successful program of research and publication, 2) teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in both traditional and online formats, and 3) actively seek external funding opportunities.
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers undergraduate teacher certification programs in elementary education, elementary bilingual and ESL education, secondary education, and special education. An expanding offering of on-campus and online certification, endorsements, and master’s degree programs in areas such as literacy education; mind, brain and education; mathematics education; and science education are also offered.
Home to 2,400 students, 44 faculty members, and 20 staff members, the College of Education not only prepares education professionals to lead North Texas in a dynamic and changing environment, but also contributes to the national dialogue surrounding education in the 21st Century. Required qualifications for this position include an earned doctorate in bilingual education by August 2020, a defined research agenda, evidence of strong teaching at the higher education level, a minimum of 3 years of PK-12 classroom teaching experience in bilingual education, and an ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, students, and school personnel.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience related to PK-12 teacher education in content areas such as special education, literacy, and/or or technology. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service.
