Provides education to adult learners to prepare for the USCIS History and Civics Exam and English Competency Exam. Provides ESL instruction to adult learners preparing for the naturalization interview and exam. Assists the Citizenship Coordinator with coordinating Citizenship classes at all BakerRipley Centers. Provides support, education, and connection to local resources. Serves as an on-site immigration resource to Citizenship class students. The position is approximately 6-12 hours per week. The position requires travel to centers (East Aldine, Gulfton-Sharpstown, and Cleveland-Ripley).
Bachelor’s degree required – Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field preferred
Minimum of 1 year experience working as an ESL instructor to adults is required AND WHO: 1. Holds a degree in TESOL; and/or 2. Holds TESOL certification from a state licensing agency.
