Responsibilities: The Director helps students to strengthen verbal skills, improve reading efficiency, and acquire more effective learning strategies, with emphasis on vocabulary growth and critical reading comprehension. The Director also helps international students improve their English language proficiency and pronunciation. Other duties include administering diagnostic reading tests and sending students’ scores to faculty advisors. The Director also consults with faculty and academic advising staff to monitor students’ progress, and attends bi-weekly meetings of the Academic Success Team.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in an academic field and five years of experience in teaching; Ph.D. preferred. A record of effective work with a diverse student body is essential. Experience with residential liberal arts colleges.
