Associate Director, Academic ELI Westchester
White Plains Campus
Reporting to the Director, ELI Academics and Operations, the Associate Director, Academics, ELI NYC is responsible for the day-to-day academic operations of the ELI Westchester campus.
Management and Supervision of Westchester part-time Instructors
Interview, hire, onboard, supervise, and regular observe and evaluate part-time instructors and full-time staff instructors for the ELI Westchester campus.
Lead a minimum of six faculty meetings per academic year.
Support all Westchester instructors through ongoing professional development training.
Academic Management — Instructors
Communicate all academic standards, policies, procedures, deadlines, syllabi and academic reporting instructions to part-time instructors.
Oversee all academic reporting by instructors.
Academic Management and Advisement – Students
Ensure accurate academic scheduling of courses and class assignments for all Westchester instructors.
Administer and record placement tests and ensure that all placement testing and advisement is completed and recorded in a timely manner.
Ensure that all students are being assessed, advised and evaluated consistently, appropriately and effectively in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines ?Curriculum and Instruction.
Manage curriculum of ELI program, including course syllabi, course materials, student learning outcomes, and assessments.
Ensure that the policies are communicated and followed by the part-time staff and students
As the most senior staff member permanently assigned to the ELI’s Westchester campus, the Associate Director, Academics, ELI Westchester may be required at times to perform some administrative responsibilities related to site management and some admissions-related tasks (such as responding to walk-in potential students when the Admission Coordinator is absent).
The successful candidate will be an experienced and qualified TESOL professional.
Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field required.
At least three years’ experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in a higher education setting or teaching college-bound ESL students required.
At least two years administrative experience in a university-level Intensive English program preferred.
High level of English proficiency and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher preferred.
