The School of Professional & Extended Studies (SPExS) English Language Training Academy (ELTA) at American University invites applications for multiple full time, term faculty openings at the level of Instructor. Each appointment is for one Academic Year, and will commence mid- August 2019 and conclude the end of May 2020. All faculty positions are subject to confirmation of sufficient enrollment numbers and budgetary approval.
The English Language and Training Academy (ELTA) is seeking experienced ESL instructors. Faculty are expected to regularly attend meetings, participate in curriculum development, assist in orientation and test administration, collaborate with other faculty and administrative staff, and provide outstanding innovative instruction to students ranging from intermediate to high advanced in both an IEP and pathways program. Position appointees will work under the supervision of the ELTA Assistant Dean. Preference given to applicants with a Master's in TESOL or related field; strong interpersonal skills with evidence of a high level of cultural sensitivity; salary commensurate with professional experience and qualifications.
The position will require the instructor to teach the equivalent of three courses (credit and/or non-credit) per semester. All faculty members are expected to deliver quality syllabi before the semester, hold regular office hours, deliver timely and detailed student updates, and participate in the School of Professional & Extended Studies (SPExS) and University activities and service.
