We are seeking a Technology Para-educator to assist, support and enhance an effective learning environment and student achievement by working with students in small groups and individuals inside and outside of the classroom. Additionally, the Para-educator provides the lead teacher with qualitative data and cultural insight that helps the lead teacher tailor instruction to support each student’s unique challenges and at times, leads class activities at the lead teacher’s request.
Leads small group activities and provides whole class instruction when needed
Provide the teacher with qualitative data.
Develops an understanding of individual student needs/challenges in the digital literacies.
Explain basic Microsoft Office Suite concepts accurately.
Assist teachers with developing effective learning plans to address students’ needs and strengths; motivate students and build their confidence and persistence.
Assess students’ digital literacy progress throughout the class sessions
Prepare presentations, handouts, and activities as needed.
Participate in Para-educator training and professional development sessions
Provide administrative duties as requested by the lead teacher (bulletin board creation, collecting or passing out papers, making photocopies when necessary)
Perform other duties as requested and in keeping with achieving outstanding school, academy, student and course objectives.
High School diploma with a minimum of 1-year tutoring or Para-educator experience preferred.
Demonstrates self-motivation, continual learning, and ability to take initiative.
Practice professional and effective interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and with others in a team approach.
Completion of Carlos Rosario Microsoft Office Application and/or Computer Support Specialist preferred but not required.
Ability to tutor others in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to balance multiple tasks and establish task priority.
Speak and write English to near fluency.
Bilingual (Spanish/English or Amharic/English) a plus.
