ESL Computer Assisted Language Lab (CALL) Instructor
We are in search of an ESL Computer Assisted Language Lab (CALL) Instructor to support the school’s immigrant-centric mission by providing excellent contextualized instruction by teaching students how to use a computer in line with the ESL curriculum. The ESL CALL Instructor teaches basic computer skills in a way that is appropriate for students’ diverse educational backgrounds, learning styles, and English language abilities.
Provide in-class hands-on computer training as required in alignment with the ESL course content
Co-instruct the class using the computers, plans and differentiates instructions for different learning styles and abilities
Co-plan with all assigned ESL Instructor before each class and complete co-planning template including all activities and roles of each Instructor for each activity
Co-plan a semester-long outline of a syllabus with each ESL Instructor
Administer “Can Do” self-evaluation pre-test and post-test. Administer assessment and evaluates students’ progress using data
Teach the CALL curriculum and prepare lesson plan, handouts and activities
Work effectively with a paraeducator or tutor if needed for student success
Stay current on the types of technology students are using outside of school to make the learning as useful for students as possible
Encourage higher order thinking skills and foster critical thinking that will help students be safe online
Monitor and evaluates student performance and modifies instruction accordingly
Must have at least two of the following:
Master’s degree in Adult Education, Linguistics, TESOL, language studies, Computer Science or related field
At least three years of teaching experience
Demonstrate knowledge and competence in Adult Education
Ability to provide in-class hands-on computer training to ESL students
Must be flexible and able to make adaptations to meet the academic needs of students with different learning skills and challenges
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain concepts to others effectively
Excellent organizational skills and timely completion of tasks
Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
