Part Time - Experienced
The University of Central Florida (UCF) English Language Institute (ELI), under UCF Global, is seeking adjunct instructors for the Intensive English Program (IEP). Appointments may be renewable upon successful review. The positions have an anticipated start date of August 2018.
Responsibilities include teaching up to 20 hours per week (4 classes) in a wide range of IEP courses (reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, TOEFL / IELTS test preparation, vocabulary, U.S. culture, etc.); holding office hours; advising IEP students; participating in professional development meetings; attending faculty meetings; participating in IEP social activities; and other duties, as assigned.
Candidates should have availability Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Position Minimum Qualifications
•A master’s degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics from an accredited institution; •Experience teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL); •Strong interpersonal and communication skills; •Computer competency; •Ability to work in a diverse multicultural setting; •Willingness to learn and adapt to departmental expectations.
•Experience teaching in an Intensive English Program in the U.S.; •Experience with online Classroom Management System (Canvas | UCF web courses); •Experience with Exam View Test Generator; •Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment; •Experience in curriculum revision and design.

The ELI is designed to prepare non-native English speakers to enter universities and colleges in the United States. The ELI has been home to students from over 70 countries since 1987. Many of these students have graduated from the University of Central Florida’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs and are now pursuing their careers with the ability to communicate in English.Three semesters of intensive English are offered year-round at foundational, beginning, intermediate, high intermediate, and advanced levels. ELI students study for 24-25 hours per week from Monday through Friday. Extra-curricular activities are offered to enhance English language ability by providing additional opportunities to practice the language. ELI students have access to a multimedia lab to complement their classroom instruction. Classes have an average of 15 students to provide the best learning environment. ELI faculty have master’s or doctoral degrees in TESOL along with multiple years of teaching experience to provide students with high-quality instruction.
