Reporting to the Director of the ELC, the Associate Director serves as the main point of academic support for students and faculty. The position works closely with ELC administration and faculty as well as with campus and community stakeholders to ensure the quality and consistent delivery of the IEP curriculum.
Consulting with and advising faculty, staff, and students on day-to-day concerns.
Supervising and performing performance evaluations for Teachers, Senior Teachers, and Adjunct Teachers in the IEP.
Overseeing ELC Academic Excellence and Standards committees and addressing student conduct concerns.
Performing ongoing maintenance and review of documentation of student policies and procedures.
Developing teaching and subbing schedules for each term.
Overseeing ongoing development review, revision, and documentation of IEP curriculum and materials/technology.
Ordering and maintaining textbooks and classroom materials, and maintaining teaching technology for instructor use.
Overseeing level skipping procedures.
Assisting Director in maintaining organizational memberships and accreditation.
Overseeing program administration in Director's absence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability and the initiative to work independently and creatively with minimal supervision in a team setting in a seasonally busy and time-sensitive environment.
Strong interpersonal/intercultural communication skills, flexible work style, strong grammar, writing and editing skills.
Ability to work with international students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated compassion and understanding of the challenges faced by international students.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to interact with a variety of constituents and stakeholders, both on and off campus.
Strong computer literacy and database management.
Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks/demands and meet deadlines.
MA TESL/TESOL/TEFL or MA in related field with documented coursework for credit in the areas of linguistics, culture and society, educational foundations, second-language pedagogy, second-language assessment, and language teaching practicum.
3 years of experience teaching in a university or college-based intensive English program; teaching a variety of skill areas at various levels.
1 year of experience serving in a leadership, coordinating, or administrative role.
Experience with assessment, curriculum, and materials development.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
Demonstrated contributions to the field (research, publications, presentations, creative work, professional service, etc.).
Knowledge of or previous formal study of a second language.
Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30; occasional evenings and weekends.
