Seeking exceptional educators to end educational inequality! TNTP seeks a full-time Effectiveness Coach for our Client Team. This position is based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. or from the TNTP central office in Brooklyn, NY, and are available immediately. Frequent travel up to 50% annually is expected. TNTP is currently expanding our work into academic strategy to build stronger classrooms for more kids, faster. While strong human capital policies and practices are necessary to build and maintain excellent schools, we know that in order to ensure students are really learning, districts must have a clear academic vision, the ability to translate that vision to schools, and, most importantly, know how to improve the quality of instruction offered to kids. TNTP is helping schools, districts and states to establish policies and practices that prioritize and support effective teaching, every day. English Language Learners are one of the fastest growing populations nationwide and will continue to be a vulnerable subgroup that requires unique and targeted support. Supporting CMOs, networks, districts, school leaders and teachers that serve English Language Learners is a new practice area for TNTP. We are in the early stages of developing and refining our academic strategy approach for English Language Learners, and the person in this role will bring their experience and expertise to bear to help schools improve the quality of instruction for English Language Learners. What You’ll Do As an Effectiveness Coach, you will develop a group of teachers into their most effective selves. Specifically you will: Develop teachers through direct coaching and training, ensuring that teachers rapidly improve their performance Identify innovative solutions for improving the overall performance of your caseload of teachers to meet contract goals Design Common Core State Standards aligned, content specific sessions for teacher professional development Play a supporting role in TNTP’s teacher development initiatives, proposing and crafting long-term, Common Core aligned teacher development strategies and services What You Bring We are looking for amazing people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission and are highly motivated to change children’s lives through education. We expect our Effectiveness Coaches to: Have classroom experience. You have at least two years of teaching experience (preferably in a high-need school) and a proven track record of raising student achievement. You have strong familiarity and expertise with the Common Core State Standards (highly preferred). Know great teaching when they see it. Whether you are watching a teacher deliver a lesson or looking at student performance data, you can identify where that teacher is effective and what s/he needs to do to improve immediately and in the long-term. Develop teachers. You track and analyze teacher data, but it’s what you do with it that really has an impact. Based on your data analysis and what you see in the classroom, you identify new approaches to improve teacher performance under a quick timeline. Have stage presence. We’re counting on your strong facilitation skills and ability to expertly lead teacher professional development. Be comfortable with the unknown. Ambiguity doesn’t scare you; just the opposite, you thrive on it. You are flexible and comfortable adapting your work to maximize your impact on students, the teachers you coach and your team. What We Offer TNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance based bonus. Qualifications: Familiarity and expertise with implementing College and Career-Ready (CCR) standards, including: Experience as a lead practitioner in a school system that has adopted the Common Core State Standards or similar CCR standards, and/or a deep conceptual understanding of the instructional shifts required by CCR standards Experience with the role of complex text in ELA instruction, research-based approaches to foundational literacy skills and/or the Standards of Mathematical Practice, and the major work of each grade Specific expertise in either early literacy (grades kindergarten through 2nd grade) or secondary (grades 6-8) Deep knowledge of content and instruction, with at least four years Pre-K-12 teaching experience, preferably in high-need schools or with high-need populations, and a proven track record of raising student achievement Strong familiarity and expertise with language acquisition theory and implementation of effective language acquisition programs and/or approaches (English as a Second Language, English as a New Language, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Dual Language, Bilingual) Previous experience designing and facilitating professional development for teachers (highly preferred) Strong creative instincts to develop new approaches, programs or initiatives with limited guidance and historical precedent Proven ability to overcome barriers and provide seamless service to program stakeholders Ability to track and analyze data on teacher and student performance to uncover trends and act strategically and effectively to improve results A commitment to constant learning and improvement, in both your own work and the work of others. You thrive on feedback and implement it quickly to continually improve your practice Willingness to work non-standard hours and occasional weekends |
