Auburn Global is a partnership between Auburn University and Shorelight Education. The mission of the program is to immerse first-year international students in the academic and cultural life of the university, help them integrate into campus life, and provide the support that increases their academic successes and likelihood in obtaining their Auburn degrees.
The English Program Specialist (EPS) coordinates programs and manages the implementation of support courses within the Pre-Sessional English Program (PSP), International Accelerator Program (IAP), and Master's Accelerator Program (MAP) for international students. These courses provide essential English language training and academic skills to Auburn Global students. Reporting to the Associate Academic Director (AAD), the EPS coordinates ESL program content and implementation and helps to develop and maintain curricular continuity, high standards of instruction, and standardized assessment within the program.
Successful candidates are skilled academics who can successfully assist with the implementation of the IAP support courses, support course curriculum, and support services for international students. The EPS role requires the interpersonal skills to work closely with a range of Auburn Global administrators and faculty. The EPS is a strong team player who participates in both academic and student services initiatives.
Coordinate and manage academic program components, including course curriculum, course assessments, and SLOs
Oversee and assist with day-to-day academic operations of support courses
Work closely with the Associate Academic Director to ensure that courses meet larger program aims
Assist in hiring and vetting ESL teaching candidates
Collect data and report on the progress and satisfaction of the students' achievement of objectives, including progression through the program
Function as the content owner and subject matter expert for ESL products within the program
Lead program revisions and changes within the library of support courses
Function as the owner of local quality assurance measures within each course/product in local program portfolio
Liaise with the Operations manager to provide data on individual performance issues and quality assurance efforts for faculty members within the program
Function as the first point of contact on academic concerns related to administration of courses and program standards
Represent the program through participation in academic events, familiarization tours, and through memberships and affiliations as appropriate
Coordinate ancillary events and services as needed (ESL testing, tutoring, curriculum development, graduate assistantships, etc.)
Adhere to university policies regarding academic integrity and related university academic policies
Master's degree in TESOL or applied linguistics, and a minimum of five years of experience in higher education, language school management, TEFL/TESOL, or related field
Experience coordinating international student programs, sub-programs, or program development groups
Record of exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with colleagues and students
Ability to work in a diverse environment and exhibit cross-cultural competence and understanding
Proven customer service skills and demonstrated work ethic
High energy level and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and creative-thinking abilities

Understanding of class management tools, including databases, Microsoft Office programs, course management systems, and forms of media to support an interactive and student-centered classroom instruction
Understanding of the structure and function of Auburn Global support courses
Experience working within an educational collaboration and/or a complex organization
Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship
