Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is currently recruiting for an Educational Specialist/Language Instructor. The primary purpose of this position will be teaching, advising, program development, and some administrative responsibilities.
Meet and teach all assigned classes at scheduled times
Organize instructional planning according to objectives in IEP curriculum
Complete and submit syllabi, samples tests and assignments, mid-term and final exams by due date
Keep attendance records, reporting weekly attendance to coordinator in the case of excessive student absence
Keep grade record and report grades and comments as needed
Submit class policy outlining grade policy, attendance policy, etc.
Assist in the development of programs designed to meet the needs of all international students
Keep office hours and tutor current students as needed
Oversee the continuous improvement of courses to strengthen their content, to include coverage of all curricula
Assess the effectiveness of the classes in terms of student satisfaction, overall academic success, instructor effectiveness and retention at the university
Provide academic advisement for ERLI students including, but not limited to scheduling, registration, academic intervention, and success strategies
Contribute positively to student success and student service in philosophy, attitude, and performance
Attend and participate in faculty and committee meetings
Stay abreast of best practice in the field of TESOL and adjust teaching practices as a result
Collaborate and cooperate with fellow ERLI and ERAU instructors
1+ years experience teaching EFL abroad
2+ years experience teaching at an intensive English program
Experience presenting and/or publishing in TESOL field
Certificate in TESOL (100+ class hours plus monitored practicum)
TESOL local or national affiliation
MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistics
Comfortable using computer technology for administrative and teaching purposes
3 years experience teaching at the college level
Oral and written English fluency
