Chartered in 1693, the College of William & Mary is a state university of the Commonwealth of Virginia the second oldest university in the United States. We are a “Public Ivy” – one of eight in the nation, offering a world class education at an exceptional value. William & Mary enrolls approximately 6,300 undergraduate students and 2,140 graduate and professional students studying across our five ...schools: Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Law, and Marine Science.
Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, our beautiful, historic, 1200 acre campus adjoins renowned Colonial Williamsburg. Cultural opportunities abound in the historic triangle (Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown) and the greater Tidewater region: Norfolk, Richmond, Virginia Beach. Washington, DC lies approximately 160 miles north of us and is easily accessible by car or train. The Atlantic coast is approximately one hour away and two hours to the west finds you in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Internationalization has been a major focus of the university over the past decade. The Reves Center for International Studies is the international “hub” of the university and works across our five schools to advance the internationalization of our education. We are home to a flourishing community of international students and scholars, 50% of our undergraduate students study abroad during their time here (highest percentage among public universities!), and the university has introduced a new curriculum that emphasizes cross-cultural education.
The establishment of the W&M English Language Program is a major initiative in the comprehensive internationalization of the university.
