Willow Public School, a new charter middle school located in beautiful Walla Walla, Washington. Teaching at Willow is not like the experience in a traditional school setting. Our teachers know the individual strengths and growth areas for each student. We empower students to own their learning. Willow Public School is one of the most innovative, exciting schools in the Pacific Northwest, and you have the chance to join our team as a founding teacher. How cool is that?
Willow Public School is committed to a diverse workforce that reflects our students and our community, and one that embraces and models equity and cultural competencies. In addition, we are offering a $1000 signing bonus for teachers who are Spanish/English bilingual.
Willow teachers deeply understand student data and determine what group and individual supports are needed for their students to move forward on complex projects.
This planning requires teachers to consider not only how students are integrating content information into their projects but also how they are applying cognitive skills (e.g. hypothesizing) that stretch across all content areas and the habits of success (e.g. perseverance) that allow them to prepare for the world beyond the classroom.
Willow teachers do not see themselves as disseminators of knowledge but instead as facilitators and coaches to their students. Teachers and students use the Summit Learning Platform as an educational tool in our 1:1 computer environment.
