About the Position:
As our Senior Director, you will be responsible for providing leadership in developing and implementing competitive, forward-thinking recruitment strategies, while ensuring that the highest ethical standards of the professions are upheld in the recruitment process.
You will contribute to the campus-wide process of identifying and pursuing potential international university partners, and develop new contracted programs. In addition, you will ensure that goals in these areas are achieved through the effective and responsible deployment of resources, as well as through the coordination of staff efforts across various units within Extended Education (EE).
In this position, you are an active member of the Extended Education senior leadership team, which includes duties such as institutional reporting, developing, and managing program budgets and assessment. You will report directly to the Vice Provost for Extended Education.You are responsible for contracting, hiring, and evaluating staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing leadership in the development and delivery of Western Global Pathways, an English language program which allows international students who have some proficiency in English, but not enough to satisfy the direct admissions standards, to begin study towards the completion of a baccalaureate degree
Working with our corporate and other partners to help share competitive, forward-thinking strategies to continuously feed a robust pipeline of inquiries and applications leading ultimately to the effective recruitment, admission and yield of new students; developing retention strategies to ensure successful progression of students through the program; and ensuring the highest ethical standards in the recruitment process
Supervising Extended Education's Language & Culture Programs (LCP) operations to ensure high quality undergraduate and graduate level English language preparation and education
Overseeing the development and delivery of partner-programs for English Language learning
Supervising Extended Education's domestic and international youth programs
Serving on institutional committees, providing an informed and influential voice in campus conversations regarding Western's strategic goals for recruitment, admission and services for internal students; represent Western in local, regional, national or international associations as appropriate
Providing sound and responsible fiscal management and use of budget/resources to achieve unit and institutional goals; assisting in the negotiation of contracts with international universities
Evidence of active involvement in the field through, for example, presentations; publications; and offices held in professional organizations, such as TESOL, NAFSA, AAIE
Demonstrated administrative experience, including experience supervising people, managing complex budgets, and deadline driven processes
Experience in one or more areas related to international education
Entrepreneurial approach- ability to develop start-up programs, as well as organize and manage any new university driven initiative
Demonstrated ability to work collegially and productively within a university/college system
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to provide guidance to internal and external constituents
Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility and proven ability to quickly process and prioritize institutional expectations
Experience working with international or other diverse student populations and ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment
Competency with Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Ph.D. or other terminal degree
Experience with Student Exchange & Visitor Program (SEVP)
Experience with CEA or other accreditation
Experience teaching in an intensive, university/college-based ESL or pathway program
