Tenure-Track Professor in English Language Education (1 post) in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 201701444)
Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor in English Language Education in the Faculty of Education, to commence on September 1, 2018, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, a professional teaching qualification in the relevant discipline, and substantial experience in teaching at the tertiary level. Knowledge of the local context would be an advantage. They should possess strong academic credentials, outstanding academic leadership capabilities, extensive experience in conducting externally funded and rigorous field-based research, and a distinguished record of scholarship. They should have strong teaching and research experience in any relevant specialism of applied linguistics, educational linguistics, educational discourse studies, and/or English language teacher education.
The appointee will teach the courses offered by the Faculty at various levels from undergraduate to doctorate, supervise research postgraduate students, contribute actively to research, and undertake school practicum supervision and administrative responsibilities. He/She will be expected to teach courses related to second language learning, language across the curriculum, genre-based pedagogies, new media and literacies, pedagogical grammar, and discourse analysis, among others.
A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
