On behalf of the U.S. Embassy-Cairo, AMIDEAST-Egypt manages and administers the English Language Resource Center (ELRC) at Al-Azhar University’s campus in central Cairo. The ELRC is designed to develop the linguistic, academic and professional skills of selected junior faculty members while contributing to international understanding by engaging participants in meaningful cultural exchanges between Americans and Egyptians.
AMIDEAST-Egypt is currently seeking an American citizen for Program Director who will be responsible for the following:
Ensure quality English language program planning, design/development, implementation and evaluation
Assess and improve systems for program and student tracking and monitoring
Liasing with the RELO office at the U.S. Embassy-Cairo and Al-Azhar administration
Develop an EL-focused knowledge management system
Recruit, supervise and mentor teachers and staff
Strengthen teacher capacity by planning needs-based professional development
Host and organize any ELRC events such as annual graduation ceremony
Develop and manage budgets
Prepare reports and annual plans
Manage and cultivate professional communication and relationships between stakeholders
Other Job-Related Tasks:
Provide teacher professional development sessions for special projects on an as-needed basis
Provide substitute coverage of classes on an as-needed basis
High level of English proficiency
MA in TESOL or in related field
Significant professional work experience directly involved in English language training and program development
Extensive knowledge of current trends in ESL/EFL and ESP
Superior organizational, leadership, and management abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work within a team environment
Ability to resolve conflicts in an amicable manner
Flexibility in work schedule
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment
Aptitude in Arabic
Experience living and/or working in the MENA region
Demonstrated interest in the Arab world and/or Muslim culture
