CLI’s Bilingual Literacy Coaches are Independent Contractors that provide professional development to early elementary (k-3) teachers in all aspects of balanced literacy, with an emphasis on ELL and linguistically responsive classrooms.
Through content-focused coaching, Literacy Coaches provide teachers with individualized and situation-specific assistance focused on literacy content, pedagogy, and student learning. They pre-conference with teachers to discuss literacy goals, lesson plan and implementation, and core issues in effective lesson design. They also work with the teacher to decide on the level of support (modeling, co-teaching, observing) needed from the Literacy Coach in the lesson. After the lesson, the teacher and Literacy Coach reflect on student learning by analyzing student work, considering the effectiveness of the lesson, and planning for the goals of future lessons.
